The newspaper

A young Nepalese child reads the newspaper, utterly captivated. I love depicting this state of absorption and concentration that is unique to childhood.

The portraits are finely detailed in oil with brushes, and the background is created with thick knife strokes, using a mix of yellow ochre and titanium white.
