Green Clape
This painting is the first piece in a triptych inspired by the vegetation of the La Clape massif in southern France, exploring the theme of soil depletion. The region, like many in France, is prone to drought and at risk of wildfires. I imagined creating three paintings showing the progression of drought, and this is the first—blending mineral and plant elements in tones of green and blue-grey. I painted it as if in a dream, both drawn in and inspired by the subject.
