Black Clape
This painting is the third and final piece in a triptych inspired by the vegetation of the La Clape massif in southern France. It explores the theme of soil depletion through a scorched landscape and parched earth, where darkness begins to settle in. Burnt tree trunks, bare rocks, and dry grasses coexist on a surface that shifts from white to beige, then to brown and black. My graphic approach becomes more pared down—moving from oil paint to acrylic pencil, from painting to drawing. Several images inhabit this single work, echoing and responding to one another.”
